Virginia Olivas, MSW, is the coordinator of the University Consortium for Children and Families (UCCF) MSW stipend program, teaching seminar classes for UCCF students and serving as the liaison for students, field instructors, and the Department of Children and Family Services intern coordinators. She has more than 20 years of experience in public child welfare, with a specialization in adoptions. For 11 years, she supervised MSW students from various local universities. Olivas is also a permanency-planning mediator and mediates post-adoption contact agreements, which serve to honor connections for adoptees with their birth families after an adoption finalizes. Virginia and her husband are proud adoptive parents of a sibling set of three children
