Biography

Valdir de Queiroz Balbino completed his BA in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Pernambuco (1993), Master in Genetics from the Federal University of Pernambuco (1997) and PhD in Parasitic Biology by the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (2002). He is Professor of Genetics Department of the Federal University of Pernambuco, giving the Genetics disciplines Populations and Evolution, Molecular Evolution, Bioinformatics Applied to Genetics and Forensic Genetics, in undergraduate and graduate levels. It is head of the Laboratory of Bioinformatics and Evolutionary Biology at the Federal University of Pernambuco, conducting research in Genetics, with emphasis on Population Genetics and Evolution, acting on the following topics: Genetics of Human Populations; Forensic Genetics; Bioinformatics; Genetics and Evolution of Insects of Medical, Veterinary and Agronomic Interest.
