Dr. Samuel Chidiume Ugwoke was born on the 1st July, 1960 to the family of late Elder James Oshewe Ugwoke and Mrs. Constance O. Ugwoke of Umuikpa Agada in Enugu Abbi. His father was a farmer and the mother engaged in patty trading. Dr. Samuel was the third of the nine and imbibed at a tender age, the virtues of hardwork, obedience, self-discipline, honesty, peace making and the fear of God. Dr. Sam. attended his primary education at C. P. S Abbi and came out in flying colours in 1973. In September 1973 he passed the common entrance examination and proceeded to Anglican Grammar School (today known as Nsukka High School) Nsukka for his secondary education. He later passed out honourably in 1978 with a beautiful result. In 1979 Sam. got admission into Teacher Training College Nsukka where he had one year crash programme and came out in flying colours with T. C. II certificate. He was admitted to undergo Associate certificate in Education programme with the Institute of Education, University of Nigeria Nsukka in 1985. He successfully completed this programme in 1987 with the best-grade- DISTINCTION. Due to his excellence in the result he was given automatic admission to pursue Degree in Guidance and Counselling. Incidentally he was offered another admission through JAMB the same year 1986 to read Health and Physical Education in the same University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Dr. Sam. opted for Health and Physical Education and graduated in 1991 (B. Sc. Hons.). In 1994 he enrolled into the Master Degree programme of University of Nigeria, Nsukka in the Department of Educational Foundations. He bagged his M. Ed Hons. in 1999 with 4.6 over 5 points as G.P.A. Finally, as a result of his academic excellence Dr. Sam was admitted into the same department in University of Nigeria for his Ph.D programme in 2000. He added a higher academic feather to his cap by obtaining his Ph.D certificate in Educational Administration and Planning of the Department of Educational Foundations, University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 2006. As a result of acquisition of additional higher degrees, he was meritoriously converted to academic cadre of this great university in the Department of Educational Foundations. As an academic staff of the Department he is currently a member of the Departmental Examination board committee and also a member Departmental Library board committee.
