Biography

He holds a PhD in Biochemistry and Immunology from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (1977) and post-doctorate in Immunology (Instituto Pasteur, Paris, 1986-1988). He was pro-rector of extension (1984-86), director of the Institute of Biological Sciences (1990-94) and rector of UFMG (1994-98). He is currently an associate professor at the Federal University of Minas Gerais. He has experience in Immunology, with emphasis in Immunoparasitology and Immunobiology, working mainly on the following topics: schistosomiasis, acquired immunity, mast cell and histamine, development and selection of B lymphocyte repertoire. He has also contributed to the topics of university and public university.
