Timothy Loy, MD, was born and raised in Illinois. He graduated with a degree in biology from Greenville College, Greenville, Illinois, in 1979. He received his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Southern Illinois University in 1983. A residency in Anatomic Pathology was completed at the University of Missouri in 1986. He subsequently did a one-year fellowship in Surgical Pathology at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Loy returned to join the Pathology faculty at the University of Missouri in 1987. He practiced there for 24 years, serving as a Surgical Pathologist, Cytopathologist, Section Chief of Immunohistochemistry (1987-2011), Section Chief of Electron Microscopy (1987-2011), and Director of Anatomic Pathology (2005-2011). He joined the faculty of Ross University School of Medicine as a Professor of Pathology in 2011.
