Biography

He was born in Porto, Portugal. son of an architect/professor and a primary school teacher. He holds a Master in Architecture degree acquired at the Universidade Lusíada do Porto, Portugal, part of the recognized worldwide architecture teaching theory “Porto School of Architecture”. At the present, he is finishing his Doctorate in Architecture, with emphasis in Architecture and Cinema, at the same institution.   As a professor, he has taught various subjects and exercised different roles (Professor, Class Director, Course Director), all the courses taught were targeted for the Visual Education, Visual Arts, Technical Drawing and Architecture.   As an architect, has experience in different fields of architecture and activities, such as exhibition design projects, design competition projects, execution design projects and renovation or remodeling design projects, etc. The way he works is also diverse, ranging from individual work, in partnership or collaboration, to teamwork.   From 2000 to 2008, he was a trainee and a junior architect at António Borges da Costa Architects. From 2006 to 2007, he was a junior architect and collaborator at Inês Moreira Architects, collaborating in different exhibition designs such as “Depósito” and “Pack” in Porto, Portugal, and “Retrato Proteico”, in Badajoz, Spain. In 2008, he founded the Tiago Costa Architects. His office, open and running at the present in Dubai, approaches designs in different fields of architecture but it is mainly focused on the residential design. His influence ranges from a mix of the Portuguese architect Álvaro Siza Vieira and the Japanese architect Shinichi Ogawa. He sees architecture as a way to fulfill the needs of the clients, in harmony with the surrounding environment but always regarding the privacy of home. In 2009, he was a junior architect collaborator, at João Álvaro Rocha Architects, winning one Architectural Design and Construction Competition in São João da Madeira, Portugal and a junior architect collaborator, at Correia/Ragazzi Architects.   Apart from the professional life, being single he moved alone to Dubai and his hobbies are quality time with friends, cinema (including VJing), music (including DJing), swimming and football.
