Biography

Professor Thomas Rutherford pursued his PhD 1987 from Stanford University (Operations Research under the supervision of Alan S. Manne)he studied BS 1977 from Yale University (Engineering and Applied Science) 1973, Madison East High School, Madison, WI.At present he is working as a Professor in department of Agriculture and applied economics, University of Wisconsin-Madison. Professor Thomas Rutherford is an applied economist working on issues in trade, energy and environmental economics.His methodological focus involves the use of mathematical programming methods to better understand economic policy choices. His current projects include work on the economics of climate change policy, including carbon tariffs, as well as the impacts of international trade agreements.
