Dr. Andrea graduated with honors from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Biology, and continued on to the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA to receive his OD Degree. From there, he went on to complete a residency in Ocular Disease and Primary Care at the VA Boston Healthcare System in Brockton, MA. This advanced training allowed him to pursue his passion for medical-based optometry and to begin teaching optometry students. His primary interests involve ocular disease and community health, with a focus on caring for patients with diabetes, glaucoma, age related macular degeneration, and cardiovascular disease; especially in underserved populations. Dr. Andrea is a member of the Massachusetts Society of Optometrists, the American Optometrist Association and is pursuing his fellowship with the American Academy of Optometry.

Dr. Thomas Andrea, OD is currently an Attending Optometrist at the Dimock Community Health Center, the South Boston Community Health Center, and the NECO Clinical Network, where he provides comprehensive ocular care to diverse patient populations. At each of these clinical sites, Dr. Andrea serves as a preceptor and mentor to second, third, and fourth year optometry students. He also serves as a laboratory instructor for first and second year optometry students in the Principles and Practices of Optometry and Ocular Disease Principles courses, and serves in the Admissions department as a faculty interviewer for incoming students.
