Thomas Büchner is Professor of Hematology at the University of Münster, Germany. Born in Berlin he studied medicine in Munich, Innsbruck, Vienna and Freiburg where he graduated as MD. After moving to Münster and by an experimental study on “Inflammatory Cells in Blood and Tissue” he achieved his PhD (Habilitation). In 1978 T. B. created the AML Cooperative Group (AMLCG) and coordinated until today a series of multicenter, randomized trials on AML, repeatedly presented and published.
