Mrs van Oordt is a qualified chartered accountant and a senior lecturer at the University of Pretoria. She lectures taxation on an undergraduate level for students mainly studying BCom Accounting Sciences, BCom Financial Sciences and BCom Law. In 2014, she received the Laureate for Teaching Excellence and Innovation Award, awarded by the Vice Chancellor and Rector of the University of Pretoria. She also received the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences’ Teaching Excellence award in 2015
