Terry Pouono joined Laidlaw College in 2014, and is a kaiako and lecturer in the School of Theology based at Manukau campus. Terry holds a BA in Education from the University of Auckland, a BD from Malua Theological College in Samoa, a Masters in Ecumenical Studies from the University of Geneva/Bossey Ecumenical Institute, and will graduate from the University of Auckland with his PhD in Theology in May 2017. Terry teaches a range of theology courses at the Manukau campus. He is also an ordained faifeau in the Congregational Christian Church of Samoa, has taught at Malua Theological College, and worked in the Tuakana student support programme at the University of Auckland. He is a West Aucklander living in South Auckland, is married to Toese and they have four children.
His research is in the area of Practical Theology, and his doctoral dissertation is titled “Coconut water in a Coca Cola bottle: In search of an Identity: A New Zealand-born Samoan Christian in a Globalized World” with particular emphasis on intercultural hermeneutics.
