Biography

  A native of Kentucky, Dr. Dean grew up in Jeffersontown, and after high school attended Western Kentucky University receiving a Bachelor of Science in Biology, with minors in Chemistry and Radiation Biophysics. He then went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. He furthered his studies by completing a 1-year post-doctoral Hospital Based General Practice Residency at University Humana Hospital in Louisville, KY. After 8 years in private practice Dr. Dean moved into the educational arena full time and has worked both in Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting programs in Indiana and Kentucky, having served as a faculty member and program director in both disciplines. Currently, he serves as supervising dentist for the WKU Dental Hygiene clinic. Alongside his clinic duties, he also teaches General & Oral Pathology, Pain Control in Dentistry, and Dental Materials and Expanded Functions I & II.  Dr. Dean serves as a consultant to the American Dental Association’s Commission on Dental Accreditation. A current member of American Dental Education Association, Dr. Dean has served as chair of the Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology Section and he also holds current membership in the American Academy of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology. Dr. Dean has particular interest in the following areas and has presented various Continuing Education courses related to them.
