"Dr. Tamer Salem is Professor and coordinator of the Molecular and Cell Biology concentration of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Science and Technology at Zewail City. Salem graduated from the Faculty of Science, Cairo University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He received his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Microbiology and Cell Science from the University of Florida at Gainesville, USA. Salem started his professional career in 1993 at the Agricultural Genetic Engineering Research Institute (AGERI) in Egypt where he held various positions and in 2015 he was appointed a Professor of Microbial Molecular Biology. From 2006 to 2011, he worked in different universities in the United States including Michigan State University, University of Florida and Miami University. Salem was awarded the Norman E. Borlaug International Agricultural Science and Technology Fellows Program, USDA, USA and the Institute of International Education (IIE) Fellowship from USA. "
Salem’s research interest areas are Molecular Biology, Virology, Gene Expression and Gene Delivery. He is a full member of many prestigious societies including the American Society for Virology, the Society for General Microbiology, and the Society for Invertebrate Pathology.
