Biography

I have been lecturing full-time at Staffordshire University since 1998, the majority of that time in the role of senior lecturer. My subject specialism is biochemistry and allied areas. A core area of my delivery and interest has been with the first year undergraduate skills development, I co-ordinate the first year module Introduction to Scientific Practice. This covers practical and key skills that underpin their subsequent study and development to be a successful graduate. I am also involved in the delivery within the first year module Molecules to Cells, the second year module Human Biochemistry and Physiology and I deliver on courses relating to genetic and chronic disease at both undergraduate and postgraduate (masters) level. In addition I supervise final year project students, three of whom have published within the Biohorizons Journal for undergraduate project papers, one being in the first volume of this journal, the most recent publication was in 2013.

Research Intrest

Following the completion of my PhD I was employed as a Research Fellow researching the movement of dipeptides across lysosomal membranes. In subsequent years my interest has been limited in the main on the affects of antioxidants, this has been the basis of many third year students projects.
