Dr. Stathis Kalyviotis was elected Assistant Professor at the Cyprus University of Technology and took up his duties at the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering in September 2014. Previously he worked at King's College, London, University of London, from 2009 to 2013 as Postdoctoral Researcher (Feb- Aug 2009) and Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering (Aug. 2009 - Aug. 2013). From the same institution he received a degree in Mechanical Engineering (MEng - First Class Honors, 2001-2005) and his PhD in Biomedical Engineering (Sept. 2005-Dec.-2008). Dr. Kalyviotis is a Honorary Senior Research Associate at University College London, a member of the council and representative of Cyprus at the European Society for Clinical Hemorheologyand Microcirculation , as well as a member of professional organizations and associations ( IMechE - UK , TEE - Greece , British Society of Rheology ) .
His Research interests include rheology and microreology, imaging rheology of fluids, inoculums and inoculums, study of flows of fluids and microcircuits, flow / epithelial cell interactions, and so on. In addition to contributing to the understanding of fundamental issues, such as the study of trans-cellular attraction forces and transport phenomena, Kalyvioti find application in various areas: health (diagnostics - prevention of circulatory and micro-circulatory problems), lab on chip devices, industrial processes involving micro-scale flows etc. The main labequipment of Dr. Kalyvioti includes viscometers, imaging rheology systems, flow imaging systems at microscale,
