Born in 1965 in Gaziantep, Prof. Sökücü completed his schooling in Gaziantep before graduating from CerrahpaÅŸa Medical School in 1992 followed by 14 months of compulsory service in Arapkir, Malatya. In 1993 he completed his internship in the neurology clinic at ÅžiÅŸli Etfal Hospital, and then continued his specialty training in pathology at Ä°stanbul University Medical School, finally qualifying in 1998. He worked for 12 years at the Dr. Ersin Arslan State Hospital, including 6 years of service at the Cancer Early Diagnosis and Education Center (KETEM). He also carried out work on transplantation pathology at Akdeniz University Medical School Department of Pathology. Prof. Sökücü , who has been working as a pathologist at the private Sani KonukoÄŸlu Hospital since May 2010, is married and has two children. In 2014 he was also appointed as the founding academic member of the pathology department at SANKO University.
