Sjaak Hurkens joined the institute in 2005. His main research interests are game theory, microeconomics and industrial organization. He has previously been an associate professor at Universitat Pompeu Fabra and a HCM Fellow at University College London. He has contributed to the literature on equilibrium refinements, learning, communication, and information acquisition. In recent work he studies models of bargaining where deadlines play a role. He is also interested in experimental economics and telecom regulation issues
