Biography

Shelley Cannady is an Associate Professor and the Scholarship Coordinator for the College of Environment and Design. She has taught a wide range of courses at UGA, both at its main campus and in Costa Rica. She is a landscape designer, manages a farm and vineyard, and is a former U.S. Navy intelligence officer. Originally from northern California, she has lived and worked in a variety of locations including Japan and Iceland.

Research Intrest

Prof. Cannady’s research focuses on imprints in the landscape brought about by societal responses to conflict and social upheaval. Study sites include Russia/former USSR, Japan, and WW II Japanese-American incarceration sites in North America. Secondary interests include Japanese gardens, agritourism, and urban agriculture.
