Biography

Dr. Sayera Banu joined ICDDR,B in 1991 and is currently a Scientist in the Tuberculosis Laboratory under Laboratory Sciences Division. She has completed her MBBS in Medical Science from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh in 1989; then she received a M.S in Microbiology from the University of Tsukuba, Japan in 1997 and Ph.D. Microbiology from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2003. She conducted post graduate training in Mycobacteriology at the Institut Pasteur, Paris from 1998-1999. She has successfully completed several projects over the last ten years both as principal investigator and co-investigator. In some of the projects she worked as a major foreign investigator. She has the expertise of leading any project involving epidemiology, microbiology, immunology and molecular biology of TB.
