Sabine has several decades of research experience in temperate and tropical coastal ecosystems, studying species interactions and effects of human impacts in tidal flats and estuaries. Benthic community ecology in soft-sediments is her greatest passion, where she enjoys approaches using manipulative field experiments, in particular to understand the ecological roles of ecosystem engineers. As coastal ecosystems are subject to various human activities, her research is also covering aspects of recolonisation and resilience, as well as marine invasive species.
