Biography

Ryan Mikkelson was named sports information director in July of 2014 prior to the fall sports season. Originally from Roundup, Mont., Ryan worked for a private government healthcare contractor before joining the University of Jamestown. Mikkelson, a 1999 graduate of Jamestown College with a History/Political Science and English degree, spent the 2012-16 seasons as an assistant coach for the Jimmie softball team. He primarily worked with the infielders, and under his tutelage, the Jimmies posted four of the top five team fielding percentages in school history. Jamestown had a won-loss record of 140-88 during Mikkelson's time on staff, including a school-record 18-game winning streak in 2015. He served in a wide variety of roles that included practice planning, fundraising, recruiting, and overseeing the team defense. Mikkelson is the primary contact for the Jimmies’ 19 varsity sport programs and is responsible for promoting Jimmie athletics through website coverage, social media, live in-game statistical reports, and postgame recaps. He currently serves as the NSAA's National Player of the Week voter for baseball and men's and women's soccer. Mikkelson is also a member of the conference's baseball oversight committee. Professionally, Mikkelson is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA), Football Writers Association of America (FWAA), and National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA). Ryan and his wife Tina live in Jamestown with their son Baylee, and daughters Samantha and Jordan.
