Head of Clinical Unit- Family Medicine, with A Master’s Degree in Family Medicine-2003. I have also graduated with a Masters of Law (Medical Law and Bioethics) )-UKZN-2008 under the mentorship of Prof Jerome Singh and Prof D McQuoid-Mason My course content included Medical Law, HIV/AIDS Law, Bioethics including research ethics and Forensic Medicine. Each of these modules included extensive weekly assignments, exit exams and research papers for each module. PhD degree awarded December 2013-thesis entitled “Ethical Dilemmas Encountered by Critical Care Specialists in the Admission of HIV infected patients to Intensive Care.” Under the supervision of Prof Umesh Lalloo and co-supervisor Prof Jerome Singh. Awarded Fellowship by peer review -College of Family Physician- CMSA May 2014. Academic Doctors Association of South Africa- sub-committee of SAMA- KZN representative. Member of HPCSA “ Professional Conduct Committee”-2013 I am currently supervising 4 Masters level students and I am a reviewer for the PGHDC at Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine. I also sit on UKZN-Biomedical Research Ethics Committee. I am a reviewer for South African Family Practice and African Journal of Primary Care. Member of KZNDOH Clinical Governance Committee I am a member of the South African Thoracic Society and South African HIV Clinicians Society. I am a member of Golden Key International Honor Society. I hold a current GCP certificate. Completed American Association Certified “Basic Life Support and Acute Cardiac Life supports Certification programme July 2011. Invited by ‘ Medical Education Partnership Initiative’- an NIH –funded initiative-to conduct workshop on “Palliative Care Ethics and the Concept of Medical Futility” to Diploma in HIV programme by UKZN for doctors and nurses. Deliver lectures annually at Dept. of Family Medicine “Emergency Medicine Update” on ‘Emergency Care Ethics” and Sexual Assault” Invited by Dept. of Obstetrics and Gynaecology to conduct “Sexual Assault Protocols” workshop for O&G registrars and invited by same to deliver ‘Medico-legal Aspects of Sexual Assault” at the 2011 O&G update in Sept. 2011. Invited by SAMA to deliver talks on ‘ Sexual Assault’ and the ‘ Ethics and Legality of using HIV status as admission criteria to emergency care”. Invited by Dept. of Internal Medicine- UKZN to deliver ethics talk on ‘ HIV/AIDS- ethics and constitutionality of using HIV status as admission to emergency care, including ICU care’- Sept. 2013. Attended Critical Care Congress 2011 at ICC in July 2011. Attended 8th annual IRENSA Research Ethics Seminar-2010. Attended Fogarthy International sponsored workshop at the South African Research Training Initiative for Southern Africa-2011, in which I passed 2 Examination modules accredited towards a Master’s Degree in Research Ethics namely:
