She holds a degree in Pharmacy and Biochemistry from the Faculty of Pharmacy of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (1985), a Master's degree in Food Science from the Faculty of Food Engineering - UNICAMP (1991) and a PhD in Food Science from the Faculty of Pharmacy of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (2008). He was Adjunct Professor of the University Center of Belo Horizonte (UNIBh). He is currently Adjunct Professor II of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the UFMG (Food Department). He has experience in Food Science and Technology, with emphasis in Food Microbiology, working mainly on the following topics: Quality, HACCP, Food Safety, Health Security , Radiation in food and extraction, purification and application of bacteriocins in food
