Biography

Prof. Rolf Krebs, Ph.D., M.D. served as the Spokesman of the Corporate Management of Boehringer Ingelheim and Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors and Member of the Corporate Management from 2001 to 2003. From 1976 to 1986, Prof. Krebs headed the Clinical Research and the R & D Department for Ethical Products and Health Sector at Bayer AG. Prof. Krebs served as Vice Chief Executive Officer of Bayer Italia S.p.A. from 1986 to 1989. Prof. Krebs serves as the Chairman of Supervisory Board of GANYMED Pharmaceuticals AG. He served as the Chairman at Boehringer Ingelheim GmbH. Prof. Krebs served as the Chairman of Supervisory Board at Merck KGaA since July 2009 until May 09, 2014 and also its Member of supervisory Board from June 30, 2006 to May 9, 2014. Prof. Krebs served as the Chairman of Supervisory Board of Epigenomics AG. He serves as a Member of Supervisory Board at VITA 34 INTERNATIONAL AG. He serves as Member of the Advisory Board of Barmenia Krankenversicherung a. G. He served as a Member of Advisory Board of Apax Partners LLP. Prof. Krebs has been a Member of the Supervisory Board at MG Technologies AG since June 3, 2003. He served as an Advisor at Life Sciences Partners BV. He served as Member of Advisory Board at Deutsche Venture Capital. Prof. Krebs served as an Advisory Director at Peters Associates AG. He served as a Senior Advisor at Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. He served as a Member of Supervisory Board at Merz GmbH & Co. KGaA. He served as a Member of Supervisory Board at L'Air Liquide SA from May 2004 to May 10, 2006. In 1994, He was awarded the Honorary Doctor of the Pharmaceutical Faculty of the University of Athens and Greece. In 1999, he was awarded the Grand Decoration of Honor in silver for services to the Republic of Austria. From 1996 to 1998, Prof. Krebs was the President of the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA), Brussels and from 2000 to 2002 he was President of the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Associations (IFPMA), Geneva. He serves as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Chemical Industry Association (VCI), Frankfurt and member of various renowned national and international scientific associations. He serves as Chairman of the Supervisory Board at Merck S.A. (Chile). He served as Member of Supervisory Board at GEA Group Aktiengesellschaft from June 3, 2003 to January 31, 2006. He was a Member of the Board of Partners of E. Merck KG. Post his studies, he was appointed Professor and Scientific Counsel at the University of Mainz. He studied Medicine and obtained an MD from the University of Mainz. After his Medical studies, Prof. Krebs received a Ph.D. in Medicine and habilitated in Pharmacology and Toxicology.
