Biography

Dr. Roberto Posada is Associate Professor in the Divisions of Infectious Diseases and Medical Education in the Jack and Lucy Clark Department of Pediatrics of the Kravis Children's Hospital and Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Originally from Colombia where he attended medical school, Dr. Posada trained in pediatrics and pediatric infectious diseases at Montefiore Hospital (Albert Einstein College of Medicine) before joining the faculty at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Since 2001, he has served as the director of the pediatric and young adult HIV program at Mount Sinai’s Jack Martin Fund Clinic, which provides comprehensive primary and specialty care to people living with HIV or at risk of acquiring HIV. Together with his colleagues in the division of pediatric HIV, he also cares for children with common pediatric infections, as well as those with complicated or unusual infections, including immunocompromised children with cancer, transplant recipients, children with fever of unknown source, and children suspected of having infections acquired abroad. In addition to his clinical interests, Dr. Posada is co-director of the Medical Microbiology course and a faculty advisor for medical students at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, and he is the director of the fellowship training program in pediatric infectious diseases. He is a member of the Pediatric Infectious Disease Society and the Infectious Disease Society of America and has published on a variety of topics, including pediatric HIV and infections in transplant recipients.
