A native of Fort Worth, Dr. Garrison attended Southwest Missouri State University and received a Bachelor of Science in Biology. After enrolling at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and earning his medical degree, Dr. Garrison came to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences for his internship and orthopaedic residency training. He was in private practice for six years and developed a special interest in fracture care, prompting him to complete an Orthopedic Trauma Fellowship under the direction of Dr. Brent Norris and Dr. Paul Stafford at the University of Oklahoma in Tulsa. After finishing the fellowship in Tulsa, Dr. Garrison then completed a three-month fellowship with Dr. Hans-Christoph Pape at the University of Aachen in Germany, where he concentrated on research of critically injured trauma patients. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Orthopaedic Trauma Association and the Mid-America Orthopedic Association.
