Biography

He holds a PhD in Pharmacy from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (1980), a Master's degree (1985) and a PhD in Parasitology from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (1992). Full Professor at the Federal University of Minas Gerais. He has experience in Parasitology, with emphasis on Human and Animal Parasite Protozoology, working mainly on the following topics: Toxoplasma gondii: diagnosis, isolation and characterization of strains, virulence and typing by PCR-RFLP, experimental models of toxoplasmosis, seroepidemiology, toxoplasmosis in small ruminants.

Experimental toxoplasmosis models, Characterization of Toxoplasma gondii isolates obtained in Brazil, Serological diagnosis and epidemiology of toxoplasmosis, Immune response in toxoplasmosis.
