He holds a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from the Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (1999) and a PhD in Parasitology from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (2003). Postdoctoral studies at The George Washington University (2005). He is currently Adjunct Professor IV at the Department of Parasitology of the Federal University of Minas Gerais and Researcher at the Research Center René Rachou - Oswaldo Cruz Foundation. It is affiliated member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences. He has experience in the field of Parasitology, with emphasis on Immunoparasitology, acting mainly on the following subjects: leishmaniasis, hookworms, ascaridiasis, vaccines, experimental models, immunological response, immunology of laboratory animals.
