Ricardo Sergio Couto de Almeida holds a bachelor's degree in Dentistry from the State University of Londrina (02/2002), a Master's Degree in Experimental Pathology from the State University of Londrina (08/2003), a doctorate in Microbiology from Friedrich Schiller Universität Jena, Germany (09/2008, title recognized by the State University of Londrina) and Post-doctorate in Molecular Genetics by the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Ribeirão Preto, USP (02/2012). He is currently Associate Professor C at the State University of Londrina. Orientates students in two UEL graduate programs: Master's and Doctorate in Microbiology (research line ALTERNATIVE METHODS TO CLASSICAL ANIMAL EXPERIMENTATION IN TOXICOLOGICAL TESTS AND THE STUDY OF THE PARASITO-HOSPEDEIRO RELATIONSHIP); and Masters in Dentistry (HOSPITAL DENTISTRY research line). Has experience in the area of ​​medical mycology, with emphasis on molecular biology of pathogenic fungi. He has experience in fluorescence and confocal microscopy, in biofilms produced by C. albicans, in animal models (candidiasis and aspergillosis in mice) and in alternative models of infection such as Galleria mellonella, Tenebrio molitor, Caenorhabditis elegans, Danio rerio, culture of cells and oral epithelial tissue in vitro (Reconstituted Human Oral Epithelium).
