Biography

Dr. Rex H. Caffey conducts applied research and extension programming related to the economic and policy challenges of fisheries and coastal wetlands in the northern Gulf of Mexico region. His work focuses on coastal fisheries management; economics of coastal restoration; natural resource valuation, economic development and project feasibility. In 2003 Caffey became founding director of the LSU Center for Natural Resource Economics and Policy (CNREP). The center fosters the interaction of social science researchers to address natural resource management challenges at the state and regional level. Caffey has served as conference chair of CNREP triennial conferences in 2004, 2007, 2010, 2013, and 2016: Since 2011, Dr. Caffey has served as director of marine extension for the Louisiana Sea Grant College Program.
