Biography

Associate Professor Rebecca Giallo is a Senior Research Fellow and Psychologist with the Healthy Mothers Healthy Families research group. She brings over 15 years' experience in life course epidemiological and clinical intervention research focussed on promoting the health and wellbeing of children and families. She was awarded an NHMRC Career Development Fellowship in 2016. A/Professor Giallo co-leads the Intergenerational Health Stream which aims to: (1) explore the impact of early life stress on children and families, (2) understand what supports resilience in families experiencing early life stress, and (3) evaluate the effectiveness of clinical interventions to promote intergenerational health and wellbeing. A/Professor Giallo's research on the mental health of fathers in the early parenting period is gaining increased national and international attention, underscoring the need for early intervention and support to promote mental health of fathers at a critical time in their children's lives. A/Professor Giallo has worked with children and families in a range of educational, hospital and clinical settings.
