Dr Raida Al-Alawi holds a PhD in Intelligent Systems from Brunel University London, UK(1990). She also holds an MSc in Computer Engineering from University of London (1985) and a BSc in Electrical Engineering from Kuwait University (1983). Dr Raida joined Ahlia University in October 2017, as an associate professor in the College of Engineering. Before this, she was an associate professor in the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering at the University of Bahrain, where she also served as the Chairperson of the Department of Computer Engineering. She has received many honours and awards, including the UoB Certificate of Excellence in Teaching; a British Council Scholarship for pursuing her master’s degree; and the IEEE Best Counsellor Award in 1996. Dr Raida is an active member of various international societies including IEEE, ACM, ENNS, ABET, IAENG, FAE, OWSD and Sigma Xi scientific research society. In addition she is a Life Member of Bahrain Society of Engineers and the Chairperson of the Information & Communication Technology (ICT) Committee of the Federation of Arab Engineers (FAE). She has conducted various consultancy projects in the field of Information Technology and is a referee for a number of international journals in the field of Electronics and Computer Engineering. She has been involved in the Organizing Committees and Technical Committees of many international and national conferences and workshops. She has published many papers in leading international journals and presented papers in many international conferences.
