Biography

Prosper Benhaim, MD is a hand surgeon, microsurgeon and reconstructive plastic surgeon at the UCLA School of Medicine since he joined the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and the Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery in 1998. He is currently an associate professor with numerous local and national committee positions, including an editorial position for the Journal of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. Dr. Benhaim earned his B.A. in Animal Physiology at the University of California, San Diego. He earned his M.D. degree at the University of California, San Francisco, then obtained his general surgery training at UCSF as well. His residency in general surgery included a three-year research fellowship in wound healing and limb allotransplantation research. He then proceeded with plastic surgery training at UCLA and a hand surgery/microsurgery fellowship at UCLA.

Research Intrest

Benhaim remains very active in research on stem cells and in the clinical practice of hand surgery and reconstructive plastic surgery.
