Professor Rajendra Bhimma is Associate Professor of Paediatrics, University of KwaZulu-Natal and Specialist Paediatric Nephrologist at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital in Mayville, Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. He obtained his MBChB degree in 1985, completed his Fellowship in Paediatrics in 1992 and Doctorate in Medicine in 2003. He is also a Certified Paediatric Nephrologist registered with the Health Professionals Council of South African and also has a Fellowship from the International Society of Nephrology. He also obtained a Diploma in Child Health (1998) from the College of Medicine, SA, and a Masters in Medicine degree from the University of Natal (1995). He has over 50 publications in peer-reviewed journals and is a member of several national and international nephrology societies. He is also an executive member of the Biomedical Research Ethics Committee of the University of KwaZulu-Natal and co-editor for three journals. His main research interest is in glomerular diseases in children, particularly nephrotic syndrome. He also serves as reviewer for several local and international journals in paediatrics and nephrology.
