Biography

Prof PK Ramdial graduated in 1986 from the University of Natal (MBChB). She undertook her Internship at King Edward VIII Hospital, Durban, Kwazulu Natal in 1987. She subsequently worked for 6 months as a Medical Officer in Department of Paediatrics at King Edward VIII Hospital. She joined the Department of Anatomical Pathology as a Registrar in July 1998 and obtained her FFPath(Anat)SA: College of Pathology of South Africa Qualification in May 1993. She was appointed as a Specialist / Lecturer in July 1993 and was promoted to Senior Specialist / Lecturer in July 1996. In 1997 she obtained an Advanced University Diploma in Adult Education: University of Natal and in 1999 obtained her MMed(Anat Path) cum laude for her thesis entitled: ''A histopathological and immunohistochemical evaluation of aggressive basal cell carcinomas''. In May 2003 Professor Ramdial was appointed as Head of Discipline of Anatomical Pathology: Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine / National Health Laboratory Services.
