She obtained her Licentiate degree in Biology Education (1998) from Enrique’ Jose Varona Filial University in Cuba. PostGraduate Diploma in Science Education from the University of Zimbabwe (2001). Master of Science and Mathematics Education from the University of Zimbabwe (2007). She holds a PhD (Curriculum Instructional Design and Development) (2014) from University of Pretoria focusing on the use of animal organ dissection in problem-solving as a teaching strategy. She received the University of Pretoria postgraduate bursary in 2010-2013. She has also published one article and two conference short paper presentations. Dr Kavai is involved in learner and teacher development programmes and helps teachers to become more digitally literate to integrate technology in their lessons.
Dr Kavai mainly researches in the field of Science Education, Life Science Education, Problem-solving and Integrated Communication Technology (ICT) in Education. She has also published in field of Life Sciences Education and Problem-solving. She mainly works in the Faculty of Education focusing on the area of Science and Life Sciences Education. Dr Kavai is responsible for the training of BEd students who study Natural Science as an elective. She also teaches Methodology of teaching Natural Sciences Module, Physical Science Module and Life Sciences Module to third Year students and OPV to second year students.
