Biography

Associate Professor Philip Robinson has been involved in paediatric respiratory research for more than 25 years including many innovative multi-centre drug trials as well as individually designed and led projects involving aspects of lung disease including cystic fibrosis and Primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD). He has completed an MD thesis by research into aspects of malabsorption in cystic fibrosis and later a PhD in the effect of smoking in-utero on lung growth and development. A/Prof Robinson is a member of the first and only research team in the southern hemisphere to successfully use hyper polarised helium as an imaging tool for assessing lung disease. In the past four years his team has been involved in 10 multicentre drug trials in cystic fibrosis including trials of the new mutational specific drug, Ivacaftor.
