Paula Williams initially graduated from a hospital-based diploma nursing program which provided her with a strong background in medical and surgical nursing which became the foundation of her love of learning. She soon realized that this was just the beginning of her educational journey. She obtained her baccalaureate degree in nursing while working as a surgical and PACU nurse. She taught for several years in a practical nursing program where she primarily taught the adult learner who had specific goals and learning needs. She loved teaching and decided to attend graduate school on a part-time basis for her master’s degree while teaching in the nursing program. She has been teaching nursing students primarily at the associate and baccalaureate levels and more recently at the Master’s level at Rivier since 1992.
