Dr. Chrabieh completed her doctoral dissertation in 2005 at the University of Montreal on sectarianism, interfaith dialogue and religions-politics relations in Lebanon, followed by two post-doctoral researches from 2005 to 2008 on war memory, youth and peacebuilding, financed by the University of Montreal and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. She taught undergraduate and graduate courses and seminars in English, Arabic and French, from 2004 to 2014, in Canada (University of Montreal) and Lebanon (St Josef University, Holy Spirit University and Notre Dame University). She joined AUD in fall 2014. Dr. Chrabieh has also been an academic researcher since 2001, conducting individual researches and participating in local, regional and international collective researches - including Canada, Lebanon and the Arab World, France, Germany and Denmark. She was Associate-Researcher and Director of International Relations at the Canada Research Chair – Islam, Pluralism and Globalization (University of Montreal) from 2007 to 2012. Her research interests include war memory and peacebuilding, interfaith/intercultural relations, diversity management, peace education, politics-religions relations in Southwestern Asia, theology of dialogue, gender and women’s studies in Southwestern Asia, migration studies, religious arts and youth contributions to art and peace. Dr. Chrabieh has an extensive experience in the organization of colloquia, academic conferences, cultural events, panels and art workshops, such as currently with the American University in Dubai (Middle Eastern Studies) and the Christian Academic Forum for Citizenship in the Arab World (as a member of the executive committee), and previously with: the Centre for Lebanese Studies (Oxford University, UK), the Fédération Internationale des Universités Catholiques, the Faculté de Théologie et de Sciences des Religions (University of Montreal), the Global Congress World’s Religions after September 11 (Montreal), the Rencontre de l’Association des Iconographes de Montréal, the Middle Eastern Studies Association (MESA), etc. She chaired numerous panels such as for the Middle Eastern Studies Division BRISMES Conference at AUD, the 24th Annual AMIC Conference in Dubai, the Diyar Consortium Religion and State Program Academic Conferences and Youth Workshops (Lebanon, Turkey, Cyprus, Jordan, Egypt), the International Colloquium ‘La femme dans les sociétés arabes’ (Holy Spirit University, Lebanon), the International Conference ‘Healing the Wounds of History: Addressing the Roots of Violence” (Lebanese American University), the Arab Group for Muslim-Christian Dialogue Regional Conferences (Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Turkey), the Inter-University Forum for Peace and Development (Sapienza University – Rome and Holy Spirit University – Lebanon), the Institut Français du Proche-Orient Colloquium Islamism in the Media, the Dar el Fatwa Indonesia-Lebanon Interfaith Forum (Lebanon), the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) Sub-Regional Workshop on Building Capacity for Partnership in Democratic Governance, etc. Since 1998, Dr. Chrabieh has had several media appearances and interviews (documentaries and movies, TV and Radio programs, Press articles and online platforms) such as in Canada (Radio Canada and Radio Canada International, Raoul Dandurand Chair and TELUQ - Université du Québec à Montréal - and the University of Montreal’s press, Electrococks Productions and Pimiento Productions), Lebanon (L’Orient-le-Jour, An-Nahar, OTV, Arab Woman TV, Télé-Lumière, La Voix du Liban, l’Hebdo Magazine, l’Agenda Culturel, The Daily Star, Al-Hurra, National News Agency, Lebanon Files, Al-Joumhouria…), France (Radio Monte Carlo, France 24, Interfaith Tour, Témoignage Chrétien), Switzerland (Sept.Info), Netherlands (Eikonikon), UAE (The National), as well as Al-Monitor and several other online platforms, etc. Artist-painter since 1995, Dr. Chrabieh’s artwork has been mainly exhibited in Canada and Lebanon. Activist for peacebuilding and human rights/women’s rights since 1995, she has been a member of several local and international organizations. She founded in 2012 an online platform for Southwestern Asian artists and authors named ‘Red Lips High Heels’ (blog and Facebook page), intellectually and creatively engaged for peace and human rights/women’s rights. Selected as one of the 100 most influential women in Lebanon (Women Leaders Directory 2013, Smart Center and Women in Front, Beirut), and ‘Most Exceptional Teaching Fellow’ in 2008 (University of Montreal), Dr. Chrabieh won several national and regional prizes in Canada (including Forces Avenir Université de Montréal, Forces Avenir Québec, Prix Lieutenant-Gouverneur du Québec).
