Biography

Özlem Sandıkcı TürkdoÄŸan received a BA degree in Business Administration from BoÄŸaziçi University and an MBA degree from Birmingham University, UK. She completed her Ph.D. in Marketing at the Pennsylvania State University, USA in 1999. From 2000 to 2013 she worked at the Faculty of Business Administration, Bilkent University. Her research addresses religion-consumption-markets interaction, modernity-identity-consumption dynamics, and branding strategies in emerging markets. Her work is published in journals including the Journal of Marketing, Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Business Research, Marketing Theory, Business History Review, Journal of Consumer Behavior, and Fashion Theory and in several books. In 2003, she received the Franco Nicosia ACR Competitive Paper Award and in 2012 the Emerald Literati Network “Highly Commended Paper” Award. She was a visiting professor at York University, Schulich School of Business in Toronto, Canada and Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia.
