Uchenna Mariestella Nzewi is a Professor of Science Education in the Department of Science Education, University of Nigeria, Nsukka. A native of Awka-Etiti,in Idemili South LGA of Anambra State, she was born on November, 8 1956 in Umuahia, Abia State Nigeria. She attended and obtained the qualifications listed from the following institutions on the listed dates; University of Nigeria, Nsukka, (PhD) Science Education, 1990; University of Nigeria, Nsukka. (MED) Curriculum Studies (Science), 1985; University of Nigeria, Nsukka. {B.Sc (Ed/Biology}, 1982; Alvan Ikoku College of Education, Owerri. (NCE) Chemistry/Biology, 1977; Holy Rosary/ Girl’s Secondary School, Umuahia, (WASC Div I); 1974; and St. Michael’s Primary School, Umuahia. She is an active researcher and consultant and has consulted for such organizations as The World Bank, UNICEF, UNESCO, FME, NERDC and MDGs in the education sector. She has also supervised many Masters degree and Doctoral students. She has served as the Head, Department of Science Education of the University of Nigeria, Chairman, Senate Ceremonials Committee, and is currently the Director, Curriculum Development and Instructional Material Centre (CUDIMAC), University of Nigeria. She has also served the University in various capacities some of which are: Member Council/Senate committee on endowment fund, Member LOC, UNN NUGA preparation committee and member Senate Ceremonials committee. She represents the Senate of UNN on the Board of College of Medicine. Her research interests include; Gender and Science and Technology, Environmental Education and Sustainable Development, Science pedagogy with special interest in Biology and Integrated Science and General teacher development.
