Apollonia Anaele Nwosu was born in Abia State, Nigeria. She holds a B.S degree in Zoology from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (1997) and a post-graduate Diploma in Education from the same university (1980). In 1983, she obtained M.S degree (Advanced Classroom Teaching in Science) from the State University of New York at Albany (SUNY), and in 1991, a Ph.D. in Science Education from University of Nigeria, Nsukka.In 1992, Apollonia joined the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) as a lecturer in the Department of Science Education. Prior to this position, she taught in various secondary schools, where she served as the Head of Biology unit and as Dean of Science as well as an Academic Vice-Principal. As a lecturer at UNN, Apollonia serves as a supervisor for teaching practice and for graduate and post-graduate students. She also serves as member and chair of various university committees. She was made the Head of the Science Education Department from 2005 – 2007, and was promoted to a Professor in 2005. Apollonia’s research activities are mainly in Effective Science Teaching and Skills Acquisition including 21st century skills, Environmental and Sustainable Education, and Gender Issues. She belongs to many academic and professional organisations including the Science Teachers’ Association of Nigeria (STAN),Igbo Studies Association (USA), National Science Teachers’ Association (USA), and National Association of Research in Science Teaching (USA). Apollonia serves as editor and member of editorial boards for some academic journals and has published many academic articles. She is a resource person for Science Teachers’ Professional Development for STAN, National Teachers’ Institute (NTI) and Africana First Publishers, as well as member of writing teams for NTI and Africana First Publishers.Her academic distinctions include being the best graduating student with distinction in the Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) in 1980, best graduating student at St Josephs’ Teacher Training College, Aba, Abia State in 1972 and writer of the best published Biology Workshop Paper (Science Teachers’ Association – STAN), Biology Panel Workshop in 2008.
