Biography

Nikolas Tsapatsoulis is Associate Professor at the Department of Communication and Internet Studies. He holds a Ph.D. degree from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), specializing in Digital Image Processing and Synthesis, and has a degree in Electrical Engineering. His research interests include the synthesis and analysis of digital images with human expressions, the automatic labeling of multimedia material, the compression of digital images and videos based on the focus of visual attention and the development of security systems based on biometric features. His research work includes more than 80 articles in international journals, scientific books and international conference proceedings. His research work has attracted more than 320 citations. He has been the program manager for the VLBV'01 workshop, is the organizer of the ArtIbio_html 2009 Workshop (as part of the AIAI 2009 conference) and has also organized a series of special sessions at various international conferences (ICANN'06, ICANN'09, MAMECTIS'08 and so on). He participates in the program committee of various conferences and is a reviewer in more than 10 international scientific journals.
