Biography

Nicky joined Dietetics & Human Nutrition in March 2009 on a full time basis as part of the Leadership and Equity Advancement Programme (LEAP). She registered for her PhD in September 2009 and completed it in 2011. She has been working as a Registered Dietician since 2002. She has just over two years of food service experience within various sectors of the Food Service Industry. She also has two years of clinical experience working for the Department of Health at both Northdale and Grey’s Hospitals in Pietermaritzburg. Nicky was employed by UKZN between 2003 and 2006 as a contract lecturer for the Human Physiology and Nutrition courses. She was also employed on a part time basis as an Assistant Food Science Technician in 2006. As of March 2012, Nicky is a permanent UKZN staff member and is currently lecturing Food Service Management to third year Dietetic and Human Nutrition students as well as supervising PG Dip (Diet), MSc (Dietetics) and MSc (Human Nutrition) students.
