Professor Enders Ng obtained his medical degree (MBChB) from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1989. He had his training in Surgery at the Prince of Wales Hospital, Hong Kong. Subsequently he was specialized in Upper Gastrointestinal and Endocrine surgery. He was awarded the higher degree of Doctor ofMedicine (CUHK) in 1999 due to hiswork investigating the relationship between Helicobacter pylori and peptic ulcer diseases. His other research interests include therapeutic endoscopy, surgical oncology for oesophagogastric malignancies and gastrointestinal stroma tumours. Over the years, he was awarded by different societies for research achievement, including Young Scientist Research Prize in the 4th United European GastroenterologyMeeting (1994) and Young Scientist Award in the 11th International Workshop on Gastroduodenal Pathology and Helicobacter pylori in Hungary (1998). His work on peptic ulcer complications has also led him to the winning of a Second- Class Award of the 2007 State Scientific and Technological Progress Award of China. Up to now, he has published over 200 articles in different international peer-reviewed journals. Professor Ng's focus of research has also expanded to metabolic and bariatric surgery as well as surgical nutrition. He was the Founding President of the Hong Kong Society of Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeons from2006 to 2010. He has been the President of Hong Kong Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition since 2007. He was repeatedly elected to the Council, and is currently Vice-President (Internal Affairs) of the College of Surgeons of Hong Kong. He is now the Associate Dean (Alumni Affairs) to the Faculty of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. His current post is the Division Head of Upper Gastrointestinal and Metabolic Surgery at the Prince of Wales Hospital, Hong Kong. His fondest hobbies are Chinese Calligraphy and Hiking.
