Biography

He holds a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences (1986), a Master's degree in Biochemistry and Immunology (1990) and a PhD in Biochemistry and Immunology (1995) from the Federal University of Minas Gerais. He is currently a full professor at the Federal University of Minas Gerais. He has experience in the field of Parasitology, with emphasis in Biochemistry and Physiology of Hematophagous Insects and Parasite Vector Biology Interaction, working mainly in the following subjects: Physiology of the digestive tract of Lutzomyia longipalpis, Leishmania-phlebotomine interaction, Biological activity of triatomine salivary molecules, phlebotomines and other hematophagous arthropods.

Research Intrest

Leishmania biology, Parasitic-vector interaction, Feeding behavior of hematophagous insects, Biochemistry and physioplogy of hematophagous insects.
