Biography

Naomi Wilkinson studied at the University of Pretoria where she obtained her BCom (Financial Accounting) and BCom (Hons) (Internal Auditing) degrees. She joined KPMG in 2001 as an internal audit trainee. Her professional (international) qualifications include Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and Certified Control Self-Assessor (CCSA), both awarded by the Institute of Internal Auditors Incorporated (IIA Inc). During Naomi’s seven years at KPMG working in the Internal Audit Services Department she was responsible for managing various key clients, amongst others, Independent Electoral Commission, Tshwane University of Technology and University of Pretoria. Naomi was also a group manager at KPMG responsible for managing the Educational Sector group of trainees and internal auditors. She left KPMG in 2008 and joined the University of Pretoria as lecturer in Internal Auditing. During the past two years Naomi was involved in lecturing Internal Auditing to third year and second year students. She was also involved in presenting short courses in Internal Auditing. The university’s Department of Auditing was awarded the Centre of Excellence status by the IIA Inc. in the USA where Naomi has various responsibilities such as marketing the University’s internal auditing degrees.

"Internal auditing in general and also specifically focusing on frameworks for integrity-based Her area of specialisation is governance audit engagements in South Africa from an internal audit perspective & Her research focus is Corporate Governance."
