Dr. Nadera AlBorno joined AUD as a full time faculty in January 2014 in the School of Education, however she has been an active member of the AUD community for the last 14 years as an adjunct faculty teaching computing courses. She was the winner of the 2006-2007 President's Award for Teaching Excellence in AUD. Her current research interest is the development of inclusive education in the UAE, empowerment of people with disabilities through education and employment from a human agency perspective as well as the provisions of assistive technology for students’ with disabilities. Complementing this research interest, Dr. Alborno also works with local communities to spread awareness regarding the rights of people with disabilities, and has published a number of case studies addressing the challenges in the UAE context. In her free time, she enjoys active sports with her family as well as organizing fund raising events at school and in the community.
