He graduated from Selçuk University in 1984 and worked as Biology teacher for one year. He was appointed as Research assistant in Biology Education department of Selçuk University in 1985. He completed his MSc thesis in 1988 and was sent to University of Wales, Swansea to do his doctoral studies. After completing his PhD, he returned to Selçuk University. He completed his compulsory military service in GATA (Gülhane Military Medicinal Academy, Ankara) and got his Associate Professorship in 1996.
