Biography

Dr. Muhammad Zahid Tahir is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Theriogenology. He holds a DVM (2001–2005: Gomal College of Veterinary Sciences, Pakistan), Masters (2008–2009: Paris Diderot University, France) and a PhD (2009–2013: AgroParisTech, France). His doctoral research was aimed at exploring the ‘‘Targets and roles of progesterone during the periovulatory period in the bitch’’. He has 1 year of research experience in improved reproductive management in buffaloes (UVAS, Pakistan), 6 months in in vitro technologies in cows (UCL, Belgium) and more than 4 years in basic/applied aspects of canine reproduction (ENVA, France). He is author of more than 10 research articles published in peer-reviewed journals of animal reproduction. He has presented his research work in number of national/international conferences held at France, Belgium, Austria, Italy, USA, Canada and Thailand. He is winner of Overseas Scholarship for MPhil leading to PhD in France funded by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. In addition, he has also been granted couple of travel grants (ESACT–2011, Austria and TSAR–2014, Thailand). Since his induction in the department in September 2013, Dr. Zahid has been involved in teaching various undergraduate and postgraduate courses. In 2014, he organized an international workshop on canine reproduction as a joint venture of UVAS, Lahore and WSU, Pullman and also actively participated in other extension activities of the department. Owing to the clinical experiences gathered during his PhD in France, he is the key person dealing with small animal clinical reproduction in the university.
